Free to Feed Northcote

The fabulous people at Free to Feed are a not-for-profit social enterprise empowering refugees, people seeking asylum and new migrants through food-oriented initiatives. We were approached to design a flexible space for them which celebrated the communal and ever-evolving nature of their organisation. The budget was small, but the ideas were big. To minimise labour costs and wastage, furniture and joinery were cut wholly from standard sheets. Likewise, the space has the ability to be packed away completely, or configured in a range of different ways. To bring power to the central space, GPO's were installed in the beautiful pendants generously donated by Anchor Ceramics, whilst a mural by the talented Spencer Harrison brightened the space.
