e.g.etal

Description:

A Melbourne icon for over two decades, e.g.etal is home to one of the best contemporary jewellery collections in Australia. Representing over 60 Australian (and some international) artists, the gallery is known for its dedication to supporting creatives in the local jewellery community.

Founded by jewellery designer, Emma Goodsir, the original e.g.etal store opened in a tiny 20 square metre retail space in Little Collins Street in 1998. Since then, the gallery has built up a strong clientele, with each piece of unique design and exceptional quality. All the jewellery is handmade, with custom pieces available for commission, making it a popular destination for those seeking unique wedding or engagement rings.

In February 2022, the business was acquired by new owners, siblings Chelsea and Jaime Gough, who together run Native Tongue Music Publishing. The iconic gallery has now been reimagined in a new bright street level store, a complete contrast to the previous subterranean premises situated on Flinders Lane. The palette is bold, yet presents a warm, inviting atmosphere for passers by and long standing clients. Texture and materiality are all explored in a variety of applications on walls, benchtops, tables and chairs, creating a sense of quality and workmanship. Line, shape and scale play their part in creating drama, and showcasing the extensive range of contemporary jewellery exhibited.
